A jury returned a not guilty verdict this week in the trial of former Uvalde, Texas school police officer Adrian Gonzales, who was charged with 29 counts of child abandonment or endangerment tied to the May 24, 2022, Robb Elementary shooting. 19 students and 2 teachers were killed as officers waited more than an hour to storm the class where the slaughter was going on. Following the verdict, Uvalde families sat in the courtroom in silence with some wiping away tears.
