When the noise and activity stops, our thoughts and feelings we’ve been avoiding become harder to ignore.When we are trying to avoid dealing with something, stimulation can become a form of distraction. Smart phones, social media, Netflix, busy work, shopping, doom scrolling or constant productivity optimization can give us something else to focus on instead on what is hidden underneath all the clutter and activiity.The quote uses the term “medicates”, but it isn’t about literally treating an illness.
