Beyond his writing, Hugo was a passionate advocate for education, human rights, and social reform, believing that knowledge and compassion could transform both individuals and society. Victor Hugo once said: "He who opens a school door, closes a prison." This quote reminds us that education is about much more than learning facts. Education gives people opportunities. It teaches us how to think critically, solve problems, and make informed decisions. It opens doors to careers, inspires creativity, and helps us understand one another. When children and adults are given access to quality education, they gain more than knowledge. They gain hope. Of course, education alone can't solve every problem in society. But time and again, studies have shown that access to education is linked to lower crime rates, better health, stronger communities, and greater economic opportunity. Every classroom has the potential to change a life. And every life changed has the potential to change countless others. So here's the question: Who has been a teacher in your life—whether in a classroom or elsewhere—and how did they help shape the person you've become?
