It wasn't until it became part of the public domain in the 1970s that people started watching It's A Wonderful Life as a Christmas staple. Some initial reviews thought "bah humbug! this isn't as good as other Christmas Carol telling's"Time has vindicated fans of this and the Muppets for being both one of the best Muppet movies, the best Charles Dickens film and a true holiday staple.
